Virtually nobody expected much of either the 22-year-old savior, Michael “Eppy” Epstein, or the object of his rescue, the moribund My Father’s Place. His first film, Gussie, is an intimate portrait of his great-grandmother who lived to be 105 years old. The 50-minute film documents the last 5 years of her life as she transitions from independence in her Coney Island apartment to a full-time care facility on Long Island. Gussie premiered at the Provincetown International Film Festival, was an official selection at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and won best documentary at the Magnolia Film Festival. His work as a director and cinematographer spans the medium from narrative to documentary film, and is regarded for its unique character-driven, cinematic perspective. Most recently, he shot the feature length documentaries, Unseen Enemy, for CNNFilms and Memory Games, which is soon to make its festival debut. Zac also just finished his short film, Heard in Havana, about the first group of American composers to travel and present their work in Cuba in over fifty years. Since 2006 he has produced work for clients through his company, Reservoir Films. His multi-year project for New York Road Runners received honors from the Webbys, the Tellys and Parents’ Choice. Dream show at My Father's Place: The snowy winter night that Andy Kaufman took the entire audience out for milk and cookies (true story, apparently!). And hanging out on a Reggae night with Keith and Ronnie, of course. WHITNEY THEIS is a freelance animator based in Brooklyn. Her work encompasses many styles of animation, always striving for the right look and feel for each project. She has worked with brands and companies big and small, as well as creating VFX and animations for short and feature films. She is currently expanding her work to include illustration and comics. Jonah has worked in every aspect of film production and has traveled all around the world for various projects. His last documentary, The Heartland, was acquired for exclusive distribution and streaming by The Criterion Channel and hailed for its luminous imagery. He is currently in pre-production for an upcoming narrative project that he will be directing in 2023. In the nearly 16 years the club was open before it closed in 1987, My Father’s Place presented more than 6,000 shows from over 3,000 diverse artists. Its owner, Michael ‘Eppy’ Epstein refused to book cover bands, and so the club became know as a place aspiring artists could perform.
